Hosted by the Georgian Medical Journal  ·  Public Health Institute of Georgia  ·  Country Directory

The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), established in 1958, is the principal European professional organization representing more than 1.6 million medical specialists across Europe through over 40 specialist sections and boards. UEMS plays a central role in harmonizing postgraduate medical training, advancing continuous professional development, and promoting high standards of quality, safety, and professional practice across European health systems.

About This Platform

This platform is conceived as a structured academic and policy environment facilitating knowledge exchange, professional dialogue, and evidence-informed decision-making. It operates as a living hub designed to connect countries, experts, and institutions — bridging research, policy, and implementation across diverse health system contexts. The platform is open to member countries of the UEMS Public Health Section, section representatives and experts, and future members and collaborating institutions.

Welcoming Statement

Public health systems across Europe are undergoing profound transformation in response to demographic change, increasing population mobility, emerging health threats, and growing system complexity. In this evolving landscape, strengthening cooperation, professional standards, and the systematic exchange of knowledge across countries is essential to ensure resilient, equitable, and sustainable health systems.

The UEMS Public Health Section Platform represents a strategic contribution to advancing coordinated public health action at the European level. By integrating country-level representation with shared European content, the platform facilitates connectivity across public health communities, promotes transparency in knowledge exchange, and reinforces the role of evidence-informed decision-making.
