About the Editorial Team
The Georgian Medical Journal is led by an Editor-in-Chief and a structured editorial team operating under the principles of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Submissions that pass initial editorial screening and require external review undergo double-anonymised peer review, normally with at least two independent reviewers. Final editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or an authorised handling editor in accordance with GMJ policy, informed by reviewer reports and relevant specialist editorial input. The Editorial Board provides scholarly oversight and peer review, while the International Advisory Board contributes external strategic guidance on scientific quality, indexing, and global public health relevance. Editorial Advisors support the journal in specialized practice and implementation domains. Editorial Board, Editorial Advisors, and International Advisory Board members are listed in alphabetical order by surname.

Editorial Governance and Conflicts of Interest
Editorial appointments are based on relevant scholarly, clinical, methodological, or professional expertise. Members listed on this page have agreed to serve in their stated roles. Affiliations and declarations of interest are reviewed periodically and updated when changes are reported. Editors, board members, and advisors must disclose relevant competing interests and must recuse themselves from editorial consideration of manuscripts where an actual, potential, or perceived conflict could affect—or reasonably be perceived to affect—their impartiality. Manuscripts involving members of the editorial team are handled independently in accordance with GMJ's Peer Review Policy and Editorial Policies.
Editorial independence: The publisher, institutional supporters, sponsors, advertisers, partners, and other external parties do not determine acceptance or rejection of individual manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, relevance, methodological and ethical standards, and the journal's scope.
Recusal: An editor who is an author, collaborator, close institutional associate, complainant, subject of an investigation, or otherwise has a relevant actual, potential, or perceived conflict must take no part in reviewer selection, confidential deliberation, or the decision. The manuscript or matter is reassigned to an independent qualified editor.
Accuracy of board information: Members are asked to keep their affiliation, role, ORCID iD, profile information, and competing-interest declaration current. GMJ periodically reviews this page. Absence of an ORCID or external profile link does not by itself affect an individual's editorial role; only identifiers verified or supplied for publication are displayed.

The Georgian Medical Journal (GMJ) has been accepted for inclusion in the Scientific Journal Impact Factor (SJIF) Journals Master List and is currently undergoing evaluation for the SJIF 2026 Impact Factor.
The Georgian Medical Journal has published its Preprint Policy, effective 28 May 2026. GMJ formally accepts manuscripts previously posted on recognised preprint servers including medRxiv, bioRxiv, Preprints.org, OSF Preprints, SSRN, and Research Square. Preprint posting does not constitute prior publication, consistent with ICMJE and COPE recommendations. Authors must disclose any preprint DOI at submission.
