Context and RelevanceSaphenous vein graft failure remains a significant clinical challenge in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. Interventions on degenerated grafts are associated with a high risk of complications, particularly distal embolization and periprocedural adverse events.
Focus of the ArticleThis study examines:
• Demographic and clinical characteristics of patients undergoing SVG angioplasty
• Temporal trends in interventional strategies and technologies
• Use of embolic protection devices and stent selection
• Procedural outcomes and complication rates
• Changes in contrast use and implications for renal safety
The findings indicate that advancements in interventional cardiology, particularly the increased use of embolic protection devices and improved stent technologies, have contributed to reduced complication rates and improved procedural safety. However, management of degenerated vein grafts remains complex, requiring careful patient selection and optimized procedural strategies.
