Vol. 1 No. 4 (2026): Vol. 1 No. 4 (2026): Cardiovascular Health, Clinical Pharmacology, and Emerging Medical Technologies

GMJ Volume 1, Issue 4 (2026) cover: Cardiovascular Health, Clinical Pharmacology, and Emerging Medical Technologies.

Georgian Medical Journal (GMJ) · Volume 1 · Issue 4 · 2026

Volume 1, Issue 4 of the Georgian Medical Journal (GMJ) brings together contemporary research and clinical perspectives across cardiovascular and cardiometabolic health, clinical pharmacology, neurology, endocrinology and women’s health, patient safety, and emerging medical technologies.

Modern medicine increasingly requires clinicians and researchers to work across traditional disciplinary boundaries. Cardiovascular disease intersects with metabolic disorders; increasingly complex pharmacotherapy requires careful consideration of drug interactions and patient safety; neurological and functional symptoms demand multidisciplinary approaches; and artificial intelligence and digital technologies are creating new opportunities for diagnosis, risk assessment, and clinical decision-making.

This issue reflects these connections and GMJ’s commitment to bringing together clinical evidence, public health relevance, patient-centred practice, and medical innovation.

Scope of This Issue

Cardiovascular and Cardiometabolic Health
Research addressing hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular risk, myocardial infarction, prevention, early detection, and the burden of cardiometabolic disease in clinical and community settings.

Clinical Pharmacology and Complex Pharmacotherapy
Contemporary approaches to medication management, polypharmacy, multidisciplinary clinical pharmacology, therapeutic decision-making, and the rational and safe use of medicines.

Drug Interactions and Patient Safety
Research examining pharmacokinetic interactions, drug–drug and drug–herb interactions, complementary medicines, perioperative considerations, and strategies for reducing medication-related harm.

Neurology and Functional Disorders
Clinical perspectives on somatic symptoms, functional neurological disorders, neurological presentations in outpatient practice, and multidisciplinary approaches to diagnosis and management.

Endocrinology and Women’s Health
Research exploring endocrine and metabolic conditions affecting women’s health, including polycystic ovary syndrome and the complex relationships between hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive health.

Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Medical Technologies
Applications of artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital health, and emerging technologies in diagnosis, risk stratification, prediction, clinical decision support, and healthcare delivery.

Rural and Population Health
Research examining cardiometabolic disease, risk factors, prevention, early detection, health inequalities, and access to healthcare in rural and community populations, including evidence generated in Georgia.

Clinical Practice and Patient Safety
Research and clinical perspectives focused on translating scientific evidence into safer, more effective, accessible, and patient-centred healthcare.

From Clinical Evidence to Emerging Technology

Healthcare is undergoing rapid transformation. Advances in diagnostic technologies, artificial intelligence, pharmacology, and data-driven medicine are expanding the possibilities of clinical practice. At the same time, the fundamental challenges of medicine remain: preventing disease, identifying risk early, making accurate diagnoses, selecting appropriate treatments, protecting patients from avoidable harm, and ensuring that scientific advances translate into better health outcomes.

The articles presented in this issue illustrate different dimensions of this evolving landscape — from cardiovascular and cardiometabolic health to complex pharmacotherapy, neurological and endocrine conditions, patient safety, and the application of artificial intelligence in medicine.

By bringing these areas together, GMJ seeks to create a bridge between established clinical practice and emerging medical innovation, while providing an international platform for research from Georgia and the wider scientific community.
